Born and raised in San Francisco, Bettina Devin possesses "that rare and thrilling voice, which can startle you with its power and then grab you with its subtle nuances", as noted by multi-award winning Los Angeles director,Michael Michetti. The key word to describe her career would be "versatile". While still in college, Miss Devin won a talent contest, which landed her a headlining gig at one of San Diego's finest hotels and nightspots, the Catamaran Hotel, a popular venue for the likes of Sara Vaughan and Carmen McRae. There, she completed a successful three-month engagement.
The sirens of L.A. beckoned, and once there, it was not long before she began to win roles on television, film, and stage, while continuing to perform at well-known L.A. spots like the Playboy Club, Vine Street Bar and Grill, and Le Café. She starred in the film "Little Secrets", a silver medal winner at the Houston International Film Festival, as well as appearing in Paramount's "Grease II" with Michelle Pfeiffer. Some of her television credits include "Who's the Boss?", "Alice", "The New Love American Style", and "Throb" (with "Frasier's" Jane Leeves). Her voice has been heard on many regional and national commercials as well as on CD Roms for Disney, Lego, and Leapfrog, for whom she has created 100 voices. Hers was the voice on the theme song for the NBC-TV mini-series "Moviola". On the Disney/Pixar CD Rom "Jessie's Wild West Rodeo", based on the Toy Story character of Jessie, she recorded the voice of Jessie.
Her ability to access the childlike part of her voice has made her a natural for such Disney Records recordings as "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Goldilocks". But her considerable acting skills have contributed to her creation of multi-characters on voiceover projects like the soon-to-be released "Film Noir", for which she voiced 8 characters, ranging from a 6 year old girl to an elderly Eastern European woman...as well as the voice for the leading femal character. On the stage, she has garnered glowing reviews for playing leading roles in many Los Angeles and San Francisco productions including "A Little Night Music" (with Betty Garrett), "Once Upon a Mattress", "New Wrinkles" (a Bay Area Theater Critics Award winner), "Bittersuite" (winner of the Drama-Logue award), and "Dear World" (for the prestigious Forty Second Street Moon theater company). Her starring role in Walnut Creek's Crossroads Theater production of "Moon Over Buffalo" garnered reviews such as "Amazingly funny" and "Flat out wonderful". Most recently, she has been literally stopping shows with her delightfully sleazy Golden Gate Bridge character (from her CD "Dangerous Type").
Miss Devin's jazz club act has delighted audiences in California, Texas, and Australia, and she has been a guest artist with big bands all over the world, the most prestigious of which being the San Francisco Symphony, after she was chosen by the award winning composer, Billy Goldenberg, to sing for the 50th Anniversary of the San Francisco Ballet, directed by Tony Award winner, Michael Smuin.
In January 2004, Ms. Devin was chosen by San Francisco's chief of protocol for four decades, Charlotte Mailliard Shultz, to be the featured entertainer for San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown's end-of-term party. In the summer of 2004, she was selected to perform selections from "Dangerous Type", featuring the talents of some of the top jazz musicians in the country, main stage at San Francisco Gay Pride. Most recently, she has been literally stopping shows with her delightfully sleazy Golden Gate Bridge character (from her CD "Dangerous Type").
