With Love - Jane NormanYOU MADE ME LOVE YOU
JUST THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT
I GET A KICK OUT OF YOU
BEWITCHED, BOTHERED AND BEWILDERED
QUIET NIGHTS
THE TROLLEY SONG
THE NEWNESS OF THE MORNING
I THOUGHT ABOUT YOU
NEVERTHELESS
COME RAIN OR COME SHINE
LOVE IS HERE TO STAY
IN YOUR HEART

With Love

Singer/songwriter Jane Norman transports listeners to a new musical dimension, while paying tribute to two of the "greats" in American music: Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland. Jane and Grammy Award-winning arranger Richard Rome put a fresh spin on familiar standards, and give two of Jane's emotionally-charged original songs special treatment.
Jane has a talent that never goes out of style. With Love has the magic and staying power to be one of the truly great classics. The CD is the ultimate in sensitivity, passion and artistry ... and the two "legends" Jane salutes undoubtedly would be pleased by her heartfelt renditions.
Jane comments: "Why would we choose these particular songs when honoring Sinatra? Why not do his signature numbers? You've heard the song 'Nobody Does It Better,' and that phrase certainly can be applied to Sinatra's singing 'Lady is a Tramp,' 'All The Way,' or 'I've Got You Under My Skin,' to name a few. When listening to other singers performing HIS songs, you yearn to hear the 'real thing': The Sinatra version. Nobody can sing his signature songs better than he!
In contrast, although the songs we chose for this album are ones that were frequently recorded by Sinatra, we felt that new, contemporary interpretations would be welcome. Why not a Latin/60's I Get A Kick Out of You,' for example?
Judy Garland also recorded many of the songs we did on this album, but we thought that two of HER signature songs, 'You Made Me Love You' and 'The Trolley Song,' were ripe for a fresh approach. We begin 'The Trolley Song' slowly (unlike Garland), then go into a more traditional Garland feeling, after which Richard Rome's trolley-like piano work takes the song into a whole new realm ... and I try to end the song with Garland's passion and excitement."
"You Made Me Love You" has a certain sexuality rarely heard in renditions of this tune, and the fluid opening of subtle strings contributes to Jane's understated vocal. As the song progresses, the syncopation of the strings and brass creates an exciting stripper-like feeling which adds to the underlying sensuality.
Jane's two original songs, "The Newness of the Morning," and "In Your Heart" might have been ones both artists would have enjoyed recording.
